The Defence Teaming Centre has launched its flagship Defence Industry Leadership Program for 2026, with 46 participants beginning their nine-month journey with an orientation and networking day at Adelaide’s Lot Fourteen.

With Australian Minister for Defence Industry the Hon. Pat Conroy as program ambassador, the Defence Industry Leadership Program (DILP) is Australia’s flagship program of its type, playing a pivotal role in developing more than 400 defence industry leaders since its inception in 2010.

Delivered over nine months, DILP helps participants develop practical leadership skills, build industry connections and knowledge, and graduate with a nationally recognised Diploma of Leadership and Management.

Thursday’s initial orientation included introductions to Australia’s strategic outlook, the Australian Defence Force and defence industry, including presentations from Aurizn Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Humble and Former Senator and Assistant Minister for Defence, the Hon. David Fawcett.

It was followed by a networking launch at Ayers House, where South Australian Minister for Veterans Affairs, the Hon. Joe Szakacs, introduced two Australian Defence Force veterans who have joined the 2026 DILP course under recently announced scholarships jointly funded by Veterans SA and the Defence Teaming Centre.

“Now more than ever, the Australian defence industry needs leaders who are capable, agile and credible,” said Defence Teaming Centre CEO Libby Day.

“Through DILP, the Defence Teaming Centre is committed to help deliver that next generation of leaders. We thank our program sponsor Piper Alderman, and our program partner Skills Lab, without which we could not produce this nationally recognised program at the consistently high standard for which it has become known across 16 years.”
