DESCRIPTION:The DTC is hosting an event so that you\, our valued Members can engage with the current DTC Board and staff; and meet the new Board nominees. This free informal networking event will be provided in the style of our popular BD After Five events\, and subsidised drinks and catering will be provided. SUMMARY:DTC Teaming Masterclass
DESCRIPTION:About the Masterclass\nIn order to successfully deliver on the Australian Government’s $200bn committed Defence spend out to 2025/26 and develop the sovereign industry base that the Australian Government is focused on nurturing\, we need more medium-sized businesses. \n97% of Australian businesses are categorised as small businesses\, defined as those with 19 Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs) or less*. These businesses are seen as risky prospects to their customers\, as they often lack balance sheet strength\, business maturity and capacity. As a result\, Australian small businesses may not be considered for the work share they deserve from the opportunities in the defence industry lookahead. Medium-sized businesses on the contrary\, reduce risk to prime contractors and their supply chains\, making the decision to choose an Australian company over an overseas incumbent supplier\, much easier. \nTeaming is one approach to “create” medium-sized companies\, or teams of small companies which upon forming a team\, have similar characteristics to a medium-sized company in terms of increased financial strength\, broader capability and increased capacity. It can also be used as a way to share an investment in key infrastructure. This is anticipated to become very important in the context of the investments required for organisations to become Industry 4.0 ready. \nIn this interactive\, half-day masterclass designed for CEO’s and senior executives with deal-making authority\, David Pender\, Principal of Knowledge Perspectives and Adjunct Professor at the Adelaide Business School will help us explore the types of behaviours\, culture and frameworks that are conducive to successful collaboration. He has spent the past 12 years observing and researching inter-firm alliances and collaborations and consulting on implementation in varied forms. We will discuss the barriers to doing it successfully and how they can be overcome for mutual success. \nBe prepared to have your traditional thinking around teaming challenged.
