ITAR & Export Controls Webinar

Australia’s defence export landscape presents growing opportunities for SMEs – but operating in global and highly regulated markets requires a clear understanding of export controls obligations.

Understanding Compliance in a Contested Global Environment

Australia’s defence export environment is evolving rapidly—bringing significant opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), alongside critical compliance responsibilities. Defence export controls operate in a contested and highly regulated global space, where understanding your obligations is essential to protecting both your business and Australia’s national security interests.

Delivered by representatives from the Department of Defence, this webinar provides a clear, practical introduction to defence export fundamentals and compliance expectations for industry. The session will help SMEs understand how export controls apply in practice, how to establish proportionate and scalable compliance programs, and how to remain compliant as business activities and international partnerships grow.

The presentation will introduce key concepts including the Defence and Strategic Goods List (DSGL), the Foreign Country List, the AUKUS licence‑free environment, and the fundamentals of U.S. export controls, including ITAR and EAR—equipping participants with the knowledge and confidence to engage safely in global defence supply chains.

2.50pm ITAR/EAR (US Export Controls)

3.10pm Q&A

3.30pm Conclusion
