“SADILP was a learning process which focused on personal development, in a way that no other course I have attended does. It was not about presenting pre-scripted training materials but rather a facilitated learning through self-reflection, group discussion and exercises with guest presenters sharing their experiences.
From undertaking the SADILP, I have developed a stronger understanding of myself and how I can improve to be a better leader. It has provided me new tools and techniques to better lead projects and teams in the future.
SADILP also provides an opportunity for relationship building within the defence industry
I would recommend the course highly”
Lachlan Ravenscroft, Submarines, Babcock International Group
“I completed the inaugural SADILP in 2010. It was a fantastic program that provided me with a greater appreciation of SA’s Defence Industry. A fantastic journey for not only upcoming leaders, but also established leaders within the industry. It’s a fantastic forum to extend personal networks and to share ideas as a group. The SADILP program provided me with a great experience and tools, enabling me to succeed as a confident leader for many years to come. I am proud to say I was a graduate of the inaugural SADILP program!”

“The 2019 South Australian Defence Industry Leadership Program (SADILP) was easily the most beneficial training I have been involved in for my career thus far. It directly opened up a new pathway for me as my employer saw my ability and rapid progression, with respect to confidence and people skills, as a perfect opportunity to begin transitioning me into a role in Business Development. An opportunity I’m sure was further cemented by the confidence an accompanying diploma had put in their decision. I’m hugely thankful to the government for subsidising the program, because, being an SME, I feel the company would have struggled to afford the program cost, even though it is an investment in my future, the future of the company, and the future of our state”.

‘Kadego has been a regular participant in the South Australian Defence Industry Leadership Program (SADILP). This program also resulted in participants achieving the Advanced Diploma in Management. I personally attended the course in 2011, with Kadego also nominating Steve Furber in 2013, Chris Stoker in 2019 and then in conjunction with our sister company, Cadgile, jointly nominating Tina-Marie Bowen in 2020.
Our strong participation in this program is testimony in itself that it is regarded as a positive developmental program for our staff. The team that put this program together including Gordon Edwards, DTC and TAFE SA each have specific skillsets that work in delivering a well-rounded program.
The core of the program is ‘Defence Leadership’, and as a SME, I have found that the leadership development in this program has provided to our organisation a person who not only has added layers to their own personal awareness but has also added layers to the awareness they have of our staff and customers’ needs and requirements. The program also provides the individual with a new confidence as a result of experiencing challenging activities both physical and mental. The theoretical curriculum also provides a greater understanding to the individual on traditional ‘business operation’.
It must be recognised however, that the Government subsidy to participate in this course has been a significant factor in Kadego being able to participate as regularly as it has. There are always challenging times as an SME and wherever financial support is offered it is greatly appreciated.
Myself and my colleagues who have participated in the program proudly acknowledge that we are a SADILP alumni.’
