Cloud Essentials for Defence

22 September @ 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm

Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Defence Teaming Centre (DTC) are proud to present a workshop on Cloud Essentials for Defence.

With increased adaptation of cloud services across government and industry, Defence face unique challenges to modernise and build cloud capability to support the secure adoption of cloud, and helping to boost Australia’s cyber security resilience.

If you are looking to understand the role of the cloud in Defence-wide transformation, and in developing better, more data-informed decisions, than this workshop is for you.

Learning objectives

Taught by AWS’s Senior Technical Trainer, Dr David “Chatz” Chatterton, participants will discover the benefits of cloud computing and how a cloud strategy can help meet business transformation goals and organisational objectives.

You will leave with an understanding of the fundamental concepts of cloud computing, including:

  • What the cloud is, and how it works
  • Basic characteristics of deploying and operating in the AWS Cloud
  • The shared responsibility model
  • Basic security and compliance aspects of the AWS platform

This workshop has been designed for anyone who has a limited understanding cloud, including business and non-technical personnel.

Meet the speaker

Dr. David “Chatz” Chatterton is a Senior Technical Trainer at Amazon Web Services (AWS). Prior to joining AWS 3.5 years ago, Chatz was in CTO roles for 10 years at Aconex (since acquired by Oracle) and MedAdvisor, after leading software engineering teams at SGI, Adacel and Lockheed Martin on JORN. He has been delivering Cloud training to Defence teams across Australia. On a personal note, Chatz hopes to soon be an empty nester with his partner Kate and two cats.
